Jordan Beagle Resume Tape

This is my first broadcasting resume tape, it features some of my best stories, stand ups, and more. This could be used to help me find a job or career in the broadcasting field on day.

Jordan Beagle Commercial

I was able to do a stand up in the green screen studio for a commercial. I chose to do my commercial on Orangeburg, South Carolina's very own "Gold's Gym." In the commercial I mentioned that if "you name it, they got it." The commercial features myself and workout partner Chris Anderson.

Chestnut St. Pedestrian Bridge

Here in Orangeburg, South Carolina is the very large campus of South Carolina State University. There are many living communities that are apart of SC State. The major ones that are assigned for off campus living. They are University Village and Campus Corner. There's a big problem with students walking to class; there's only one dangerous crosswalk in between Chestnut St. Well, that problem is now being fixed with the new pedestrian bridge.

In Mr. Harwood's Advanced TV production class I had to the opportunity to take pictures. Not just any pictures, but with better lighting.

My partner for this assignment was Jaylaan Riley. I took 3 different pictures of her to display how better the lighting is with the reflector.

This is the first one with her back facing the sun.

The second with the sun shining off the reflector, which gave Jaylaan better lighting.

The third shows everything all together, The sun reflecting of the reflector, the subject (Jaylaan) and the light reflecting off of her.

National Anthem Kneeling

I had the opportunity to do my first POS for Mr. Harwood's Advanced broadcasting class. The title of my project is "National Anthem Kneeling," which talks about how San Fransisco 49ers San Fransisco 49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick and other NFL football players are taking a "kneel" to show express their freedom of speech. Kaepernick feels like he doesn't want to show respect for a country that continues to wrongly kill black people.

Social media, NFL fans, and students all feel a kind of way about. So I went out to ask students around the campus of South Carolina State University, to see how they felt about it, and do they think it's right.

Action Sequence

Action Sequence

I had a lot filming the Action Sequence movie assignment with fellow classmate Kiara. The assignment was to shoot 8 different shots of a person moving inside of the the communications building, all the way going outside the communications building. Then for the first time I had to utilize "Premiere Pro" to edit the final product of the of my action sequence. I added Travis Scott's song "Pick up the phone," mainly because Kiara was on her phone majority of the video, and the instrumental had a great beat.

Cadet Leadership Camp

CLC (Cadet Leadership Course) or Advanced camp, is the last major qualification next to graduating from college that Army ROTC junior year cadets must complete, before they commission in the U.S. Army. CLC is held at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and lasts a entire month. The course tests your physically and mental abilities, your ability to lead others in and out of tactical environments. Some of the requirements to pass CLC are, a 6 mile road march, 14 days in the field or wooded environment, 4.5 mile run, and the OPAT (Occupational Physical Assessment Test.)

In the end myself and all of my cadets survived all the woods, ticks bites, heat rashes, missions, and briefings and graduated from CLC on August 1, 2016. My experience at CLC was a lot harder than expected, I learned so much from my peers and instructors, became a stronger person mentally and physically, and I think I am ready to become a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Discussion Questions: Advanced Television Production

1.Q: What qualities separate the photographer from the photojournalists.
A: A photographer will take pictures and sell them to a buyer, or takes pictures for a certain purpose. A photojournalists edit, present, write stories about the photo that was taken.

2.Q: In what sense are the camera and microphone "writing and reporting instruments?
A: The camera and microphone are instruments in the sense that they are almost necessities when reporting, especially if you're working in the capacity of a television news station,

3. Q: Why can't the edit console fairly be called a "rewrite" machine?
A: The edit console cannot fairly be called a rewrite machine, because you are only editing, and "tweaking" what you've already written. You are not rewriting everything.

4, Q: How does the nature of a television news report differ from a a newspaper story?
A: A television will have more of a visual, pictures, video clips, and a male or female speaking and presenting the story. A newspaper story wont do the same as a newspaper report because it's just descriptive words opposed to actually seeing it on TV.

5. Q:What is the role of the written word in television news?
A:The role of written word in television news, can be used in the sense of teleprompters that are used by anchors and reporters all the time.

See something that interest you? Well, Pin it! Thus you have; Pinterest. Pinterest might just be the underdog of all the social media apps today. Of course there's Instgram, Facebook, and Twitter, but Pinterest seems to always be left out of the discussion when it comes to some of the best social media apps. Pinterest is an app that is "creativity galore."  It is an app that has almost anything from ideas, to recipes, to art, you name it...9/10 it's on Pinterest . Next month; March 2016 Pinterest  will celebrate it's 6th successful birthday, and has been significantly growing since it launched in March 2010. Pinterest works in a somewhat of a simple fashion. "Pin." To pin something on Pinterest, is when you post a new category or picture to a board. "A board" is a category on a user's profile. For example, if I was to scroll down the home page of Pinterest and I saw a interesting recipe that I'd like to use, I would pin that to my board "recipes." You also can "like" something, if you see something such as a artistic painting, and you don't have a board dedicated to art, one simple click of of the like button will save it to your cateogory of "likes." The 3 boards on my Pinterest are, "Projects to Try," "Recipes," and "Style." The only downside of Pinterest  is that sometimes it can seem cluttered with so many different ideas on the homepage. The very creative app of Pinterest is an app that should be more commonly used, it can be such a great help in a variety of ways!

The Shades of Shay

Shay'auna. Or you can call her "Shay." Now, at first glance I bet you wouldn't guess that she can sing, dance, that's she's a military child, a broadcasting major, or even laid back. Now you'd might say "Wow!" but that isn't even that half of it, sit back as I introduce to you the many 'Shades of Shay."

Shay'auna Bowman, sophomore, broadcasting-communications major from Charleston, South Carolina may seem to be very soft-spoken. But little do you know she has a "singing soul!"

I sang from when I was in second grade until my 12th grade year," said Shay'auna Bowman who used to attend the Rollings Middle School of the Arts in Summerville, South Carolina where she was apart of many different programs that ultimately opened her up to new genres of music. She never ever turns down new music.

A desire to be on television, a passion to dance, and a aspiration to sing has always been something Shay has shown since she was a little girl. When she used cut up cardboard boxes and make it her own television set, was a major sign that Shay'auna Bowman is destined to be on a REAL television set in house holds around the world one day.

Shay'auna Bowman not only showed how well she could move on the dance floor while taking dance lessons when she was younger, but how well she and her family could continuously move around the country. Shay is what some would call a "Military Brat." A military brat is a someone who grew up with a parent(s) in the United States Military, and always having to eventually move or PCS (Permanent Change of Station). Shay lived in places such as Little Rock, Arkansas where she was born, Biloxi, Mississippi, and Augusta, Georgia where her family is from. She says being a military child has made a big impact on her personality because her mind is "more open to new experiences and new people," she says she is never "close minded."

Shay says her traveling isn't done just yet. Being the broadcasting major that she is and her love for music, she hopes to one day move to Los Angeles, California and have a career interviewing people involved in music. Now, what better institution to get started on that career than South Carolina State University?! Shay she didn't think she would end up at SC State because her dad graduated from USC (University of South Carolina). Her biggest influence to attend SC State was her cousin who graduated form South Carolina State University. Shay said when her cousin was just 20 years old in college he was making lots of money through internships and was becoming very successful, "I wanted to be like him." she said.

The "Shades of shay" don't stop there, Shay would consider herself a very fashionable person, but only in the summer. "I am a summer person, I don't like Jackets." she laughed. In the winter you can be sure to catch her in a "bun or sweatpants." She joked around while saying that she compares herself to a bear during hibernation, not really out and about, and to herself during the winter season. But when her "hibernation" is over, she's ready to be seen in innovative styles of her own that are more than just a "bun and sweatpants."

She shares even more of her shades through her very popular blog http://shayaunasays.blogspot.com/
Be sure to check it out and never know when might when you might run into the sensational Shay'auna Alexus Bowman.

I had the opportunity to interview the wonderful Dayah Barnes for a quick class exercise the day of the 58th annual Grammy's, I was able to get her insight about music today, music in the past and even her favorite artist from her hometown Fayetteville, North Carolina !

Twitter- Be part of the discussion!

Twitter! Twitter is one of the most used social media site in the world. Twitter is a way to be up to date on anything in the world, it is also used to tell your followers what're up to. Twitter's pros are, it is very easy to use, it can be used as a source of news, you can follow your favorite celebrities, and you can see how other people feel about a simple topic just by using or clicking a "hashtag." The disadvantages are that, it may not be user friendly for older people, some tweets may not be accurate, and it is a social media site so there's always a chance for someone trying to impersonate you and your account. How I feel about Twitter will always stay the same, I love it! I joined when I was in High School along with Instagram and other social media sites. Looking back on how Twitter started reminds me of the success Facebook has had and is having. Facebook and Twitter were two social media that got off to a slow start and eventually sky rocketed. A vast majority of people I follow on twitter are celebrities or famous athletes such as Drake, Lebron James, Jimmy Fallon, Kanye West, and Kim Khardashian just to name a few. I follow them to see when they may release new music, what company they are endorsing, or just to honestly to be nosy because at the end of the day they are people just like us. Also don't forget to follow me on twitter @jbeagle_.

Linkedin is professional social media site that helps people worldwide receive opportunities to earn a new job or career. Those who use it now are college students looking for jobs and career opportunities. Also supervisors who are looking for great determined workers to be apart of there business or company. It is so popular because of the large amount of people that have become successful because of Linkedin.
After viewing other Linkin profiles I have noticed that they are very  professional as they should be. Positives are how their profile picture are neat and is just a head shot. Negatives are how some people have no profile pictures and have very little information about themselves, it'll be hard to get and opportunity from your desired business through Linkedin without much on your profile. Through my Linkedin account I will try to convey every great aspect about myself that a company is looking for in a future employee. Aspects such as my previous jobs, my updated resume, and work samples. Be sure to check out my Linkedin profile and give me your feedback, thanks!
